Have some embossing folders? Well here is something I never knew you could do…

I have embossing folders that I have not used in quite some time.  As I was scrolling through Pinterest yesterday, I saw this awesome technique.  I took an old report cover and put it in my embossing folder and ran it through my big shot. After that I took it out and then used a little sanding block that I have and sanded the raised side of the report cover.  This, layered on some cranberry cad stock gave a beautiful effect.  To contrast the red color I used some pattern paper from Simon Says Stamp Monthly Card Kit from July 2015.  I then layered some vanilla card stock and some cranberry card stock and then stamped the sentiment from So Suzy Stamps on vanilla card stock.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in cranberry embossing powder from Stampin Up.  Of course had to add some bling.  One heart and 2 small rhinestones decorate the upper corner of the sentiment.  20151213_225255-1_wm 20151213_225324_wm

I also have been wanting to try the tissue technique for quite some time.  I thought what better time than the present since I have some left over cranberry card stock and some poinsettia tissues in front of me.  I peeled the tissue apart first. then I added Mod Podge to white card stock.  I then carefully applied the tissue and smoothed it out.  I applied more Mod Podge on top of the tissue and applies Dazzling Diamonds glitter on top.  After shaking off the excess I allowed this to dry.  Once dry, I trimmed off the excess tissue and cut the card stock down to 4 in by 5 1/4 inches.  I attached this to cranberry card stock which is 1/8 inch bigger and then attached this to an A2 card of vanilla card stock.  I used The Ton’s Holly Leaf stamp set I purchased through Stamp of Approval from Catherine Pooler in StazOn Midi in Emerald City from So Suzy Stamps.  The holly berries were inked with a red colored dye ink marker and stamped.  The sentiment is also stamped with the same red ink marker.  Wink of Stella was used on the leaves and the berries and glossy accents applied to the berries.

I was filled with glitter after this card, but it was so much fun to do.  Hope you like them also.  Leave me some love on my blog

  1. Nicely done. You know they have sparkle mod podge. Not messy like using glitter. Not sure what you mean by tissues. It sounds like what we do for cards made with napkins. Peel down the 2 or 3 ply until you have just the thin top layer. It sounds like you really enjoyed the process of making this lovely card.

    1. Thank you for the hints.. I never knew that about sparkly Mod Podge. Will have to investigate this. I actually used the little tissue packs that you get at the Dollar Store. It was the exact same thing that is done with napkins. I had lots of fun creating these cards. Thank you again! ❤
