As in my previous blog, I mentioned that I stayed up waaaayyy past my bedtime because I was so inspired. This next card was inspired by three beautiful, creative people. I had always wanted to be a part of Kristina Werner’s Mail Call. November is her month where she has asked for an all white or a holiday themed card. Ruby Naz had mentioned in her blog that she received these beautiful inspiring quote cards from Melissa Brickard and she had made a shaker card with one of them. Lastly Jennifer McGuire had made a clear pocket shaker card. What I came up with was quite exquisite.
I first put together the shaker portion using cellophane bags. I put pink sequins and pink heart and star glitter from Martha Stewart’s collection. I applied some adhesive to the card before centering it in side the bag so that it would not move. Then I took a top folding A2 card base from Bazzill Marshmallow card stock and left a 1.5 in margin. I closed up the cellophane bag and attached it to the top overlay. I added a 1.5 in piece of white card stock at the bottom of the bag so that it looks like the bag is suspended between the card. A simple shaker card that three creative brains helped me make. I looked at the card a few hours later and did not like it as much. There us absolutely no stamping done on this card. It seemed very flimsy so I went back and added another white card stock backing to the inside just being the cellophane bag as you can see in the following pictures
This made it a bit stronger. BTW this was not the card I mailed to Kristina Werner……
The card I did submit for the November Mail Call is White on Gray/Silver with a pop of Pink color. I took a piece of Bazzill Marshmallow card stock and stamped The Ton’s Rose Background stamp in Versamark and heat embossed it in Ranger silver embossing powder. I cut this piece to be 3.5 in by 5 in. I added this to gray card stock cut slightly larger, added a pink ribbon with bow and attached this to a Bazzill Marshmallow top folding A2 card base. I heat embossed a sentiment from Altenew’s Eid Greeting stamp set wishing Allah’s blessings and guidance on her and her family in the same silver embossing powder. Allah is just another name for God. This sentiment was cut out to be a banner and attached to a sliver of the same pink ribbon underneath it. A large round jewel was attached to the top of the bow.
I hope she likes it.
For my last card, I wanted to use a stencil. I went to Tuesday Morning yesterday and found some Spellbinders Impressabilities and used the Circles Stencil. I took some black card stock and a ink blending tool I added Brilliance pigment ink in Platinum Planet. I added a platinum colored shimmer paper to the top of the card ( I cut a swervy line at he bottom of it) to the top of the black. This focal piece was then attached to a side folding black A2 card base. The Ton’s Heart Diamond Stamp set has this beautiful sentiment that just pulled out to me. No Beauty Shines Brighter that That of a Good Heart. I stamped this in Memento Tuxedo Black Luxe ink and heat embossed this in clear embossing powder. This sentiment was matted on black card stock and attached with pop up squares. To finish off the card I used some enamel dots in the same platinum color on the top right corner.
Hope you enjoyed my two blog posts from this weekend. Please leave me some love with your comments. I really enjoy hearing from all of you.
